Pitch Report: Batting friendly surface

The 4th T20I between England Women and India Women will be played on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester.

This match is part of the ongoing five-match T20I series. After three exciting games, India leads the series 2-1. They started strong with two back-to-back wins but lost the third match by just five runs.

In the first two T20Is, India showed top-level all-round performance. Smriti Mandhana led with a brilliant hundred in the first match, while Jemimah Rodrigues and Amanjot Kaur carried the middle order in the second.

England, after struggling early, finally bounced back in the third T20I with strong opening batting and smart bowling in the death. They’ll look to keep this momentum and level the series.

India, on the other hand, will try to seal the series in Manchester. With players like Mandhana, Shafali, and Deepti Sharma in good form, the battle is set to be a close one. Fans can expect another thrilling contest between two strong sides.

Weather ForecastTypical English weather: changeable, with less possibility of rain and cloudy skies. Partly sunny conditions are expected, which may provide some movement for seamers.
Batting First Expected TotalThe average first innings score in T20s at Old Trafford is 155–168 runs. Recent matches suggest teams can target 150–170+ as a competitive total.
Batting vs Bowling AdvantageEarly overs favour pace bowlers due to swing and bounce, but as the pitch settles, batters gain the upper hand. Chasing can be easier as the pitch doesn’t change much in the match.

ENGW vs INDW: Series Recap

The India Women’s cricket team has delivered a memorable performance on their 2025 tour of England. They are leading 2-1 in the five-match T20I series after three games. The series began with India’s dominating performance in all departments.

1st T20 Recap

In the opening T20I at Trent Bridge, stand-in captain Smriti Mandhana played a sensational maiden T20I hundred. She scored 112 off 62 balls, guiding India to an above-par score of 210/5, their second-highest T20I total.

England’s bowlers struggled, with only Lauren Bell making an impact (3/27). In reply, England were all out for 113, as debutant spinner Shree Charani starred with 4/12, and only Nat Sciver-Brunt (66) offered some resistance. India secured a massive 97-run victory.

2nd T20 Recap

In the second T20I at Bristol, India was in early trouble. They lost three wickets in the first four overs. However, Jemimah Rodrigues (63) and Amanjot Kaur (63*) rebuilt the innings, and India posted 181/4.

England’s chase faltered again after early wickets, and despite Tammy Beaumont’s fighting 54, India’s disciplined bowling restricted them to 157/7. Shree Charani again impressed with 2/28 as India clinched a 24-run win to go 2-0 up in the series.

3rd T20 Recap

England bounced back in the third T20I at The Oval, posting 171/9 thanks to a 141-run opening stand between Sophia Dunkley (75) and Danni Wyatt-Hodge (66). India’s chase was anchored by Mandhana (56) and Shafali Verma (47). But no other could contribute after the openers’ departure.

India needed 12 runs in the final over to win the match. However, England’s bowler Lauren Bell held her nerves and restricted the Indian batters to win the game by five runs.

With India leading 2-1, the series remains alive. India’s batting depth and improved bowling have been highlights of the series so far.
