A total of 784 players have registered for the upcoming SA20 auction that is scheduled to take place on September 9 in Cape Town. The list contains the names of 13 Indian players, including the likes of Piyush Chawla, Siddharth Kaul, and Ankit Rajpoot.
Last season, Dinesh Karthik turned up for the Paarl Royals and became the first Indian player to feature in the league. He had a modest outing and could make only 130 runs in eight innings at a strike rate of 121.49. The former wicketkeeper-batter did manage to score a half-century.
As per a report in Cricbuzz, all the Indian players except Chawla have been listed for a base price of 200,000 Rand. Chawla’s base price is 1,000,000 Rand, while Imran Khan, another Indian player, has a base price of 500,000 Rand.

Piyush Chawla is a significant name on this list, considering the amount of experience he has. The 36-year-old spinner was a part of the Indian squad that won the T20 World Cup in 2007 and the ODI World Cup in 2011. He announced his retirement from professional cricket in June this year and played in the World Championship of Legends. He took eight wickets in four games and was the leading wicket-taker for the India Champions side. Chawla is the fourth-highest wicket-taker in the IPL. He played in the last season of the Uttar Pradesh T20 League and took 11 wickets in nine games at an average of 23.18.
Siddharth Kaul is another Indian player with significant domestic cricket experience. He is the leading wicket-taker both in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy. Chawla also features among the top five wicket-takers in both these tournaments. He played for the Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL and took 58 wickets in 55 games at an average of 21. He played three ODIs and T20Is matches each for India. Kaul announced his retirement from Indian cricket in November last year.
Ankit Rajpoot, the 31-year-old pacer from UP, announced his retirement from Indian cricket in December last year. He has experience of 29 IPL games and has 24 wickets to his name at an average of 33.91. Ankit recently played in the MAX60 Caribbean and took six wickets in seven matches at an average of 21.16.
