India finished day two of the first Test against the West Indies with 448 runs on the board for the loss of five wickets. Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja are in the middle. Jadeja has scored 104 runs, while Sundar is batting on nine runs. Roston Chase was the pick of the bowlers for the West Indies and took two wickets for 90 runs.

India finished the first day on 121 runs for the loss of two wickets. Shubman Gill and KL Rahul were there in the middle. India lost the third wicket in the 57th over of the innings. Shubman Gill scored 50 runs off 100 deliveries before getting dismissed. In the 65th over, Rahul scored a century and celebrated in fashion.

Rahul took 190 deliveries to reach his second century in India in Test matches. It took him 3211 days to make his second century, which is the longest gap for an Indian batter between two centuries at home. The previous record for the same was with Ravichandran Ashwin’s name. He scored his first century in India in 2013 and made his second century after a gap of 2655 days in 2021.

Three Indian Batters Score Centuries On Day Two

Rahul was shortly dismissed after scoring a century just after lunch. Ravindra Jadeja joined Dhruv Jurel in the middle. The duo scored runs at will and amassed runs easily. Jurel reached his half-century in the 85th over, and the 100-run stand came in the 93rd over. Jadeja’s half-century came in the very next over.

Jurel hit a four off the last delivery of the 116th over to score his maiden Test century. He faced 190 deliveries to reach the mark. He became the 12th Indian wicketkeeper-batter to score a century in Test matches. Jurel was dismissed after scoring 125 runs in the 123rd over.

Washington Sundar joined Jadeja in the middle after Jurel’s dismissal. Jadeja became the third centurion for India after taking a single in the 126th over. It is the third instance this year when three batters scored centuries in an innings in Test matches for India. Also, this is the fourth calendar year in which India has had three or more batters score centuries in the same innings, following similar achievements in 1979, 1986, and 2007.
