The big news is that Indian Test captain Shubman Gill has replaced Rohit Sharma as the captain of the ODI side. Shreyas Iyer has been appointed the vice-captain of the side. The series will be important for the Indian team, considering India has not played an ODI game since the final of the Champions Trophy.

This series will also be the comeback series for both Rohit and Virat Kohli. Both players announced their retirement from Test cricket earlier this year and will play only ODIs now. Both players have been included in the squad.

Jasprit Bumrah has not been picked in the ODI squad but is a part of the T20I side. Mohammed Siraj, who was dropped during the Champions Trophy, is back in the ODI squad. Washington Sundar is the only all-rounder in the ODI squad, which means Ravindra Jadeja has not been picked. Sundar is a part of the T20I squad as well.
