Player Eligibility Rule for IPL 2026 Auction

Before the IPL 2025 season, the BCCI introduced a rule restricting overseas players who did not register for the previous mega-auction and did not provide a valid medical or injury exemption.

Because of this, Ben Stokes and Jamie Smith are not eligible to enter the IPL 2026 auction pool.

Franchises will be able to bid on:

  • Players released by teams before the auction,
  • Players who went unsold in the previous auction,
  • And players who missed IPL 2025 due to injury but are now fit and available.
