The 91st season of the Ranji Trophy got underway on October 15. A total of 38 teams are participating in the tournament. These teams have been divided into two categories. A total of 32 teams are a part of the Elite category, while the remaining six teams are in the plate category.

All 38 teams are in action in the first round of the tournament. Batters like Ishan Kishan, KS Bharat, and Siddhesh Lad had a great outing with the bat. All three of them scored a century each. On day two, Abhinav Tejrana became the first batter to score a double century on debut for Goa. Saransh Jain was the best bowler on first day and took six wickets for 75 runs.
In the plate category, Bihar’s batters had a great outing. Ayush Loharuka made a double century for Bihar. They declared the innings on 542 runs for the loss of nine wickets on day two.
