According to the latest ICC update from 1 January 2026, Rohit maintains his lead with 781 rating points while Kohli follows closely with 773 points.

This marks a strong period for Indian cricket, with two of the world’s best batsmen leading the global rankings.

Rohit Sharma scored 146 runs in the series and kept his No.1 spot in the ICC ODI batting rankings.

Virat Kohli is now very close to him, just eight rating points behind, after his unbeaten 65 in the final match in Visakhapatnam.

In the latest rankings released on Wednesday, Kohli moved up to No.2. He hasn’t been No.1 since April 2021, when Babar Azam passed him.

But after scoring 302 runs in the three-match series against South Africa and winning Player of the Series, Kohli has climbed back to second place, right behind Rohit.
