Bumrah took his fourth wicket of the match when he dismissed Chris Woakes for a golden duck in the 88th over. Smith and Brydon Carse helped the team bounce back in the game. They added 84 runs for the 8th wicket. Mohammed Siraj took the wicket of Smith, and he scored 51 runs off 56 deliveries.
Bumrah took the wicket of Jofra Archer in the 110th over and completed his five-wicket haul. Siraj dismissed Carse in the 113th over. England were bundled out for 387 runs. Apart from Bumrah, Siraj and Reddy took two wickets each, while Jadeja picked the remaining wicket.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul opened the innings for India. Archer, who made his Test return after over four years, took the wicket of Jaiswal. Jaiswal scored 13 runs off eight deliveries. Karun Nair joined Rahul in the middle, and the duo added 61 runs for the second wicket. Nair scored 40 runs off 62 deliveries before getting dismissed in the 21st over. Shubman Gill, the hero of the previous game, was the next to depart.

Gill scored 16 runs off 44 deliveries before he was dismissed by Woakes. Rishabh Pant, who sustained a finger injury on the first day, came out to bat next.
