Indian cricket team’s chief selector, Ajit Agarkar, announced the squad for the Asia Cup 2025. Suryakumar Yadav will lead the side, and Shubman Gill has been appointed the vice-captain of the team.

Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson have retained their place in the squad as openers. Samson will also likely keep the wickets for the team. Jitesh Sharma is the backup wicketkeeper in the squad.
Tilak Varma and Rinku Singh are the other two batters in the squad. Three all-rounders, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, and Shivam Dube, have been named in the squad.
Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Harshit Rana are the three pacers in the squad. Two spinners who have been picked in the squad are Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakaravarthy.
The five standby players that are picked in the side are – Prasidh Krishna, Washington Sundar, Riyan Parag, Dhurv Jurel, and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
India last played a T20I game in February this year. Dhruv Jurel was backup wicketkeeper in the side but has been dropped from the squad. Similarly, Washington Sundar, Mohammad Shami, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Ravi Bishnoi have also been dropped from the side and were a part of the team that faced England.
Jitesh last played for the Indian team in January 2024, while Bumrah and Kuldeep have been picked in the T20I side for the first time since the T20 World Cup last year. Bishnoi has been the second-highest wicket-taker for the team since the T20 World Cup 2024 but has been dropped from the side.
