India slipped down to the fifth position in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025–27 rankings following the biggest defeat in their test cricket history. The defeat in Guwahati on Wednesday, by 408 runs, and eventually lost the series 2-0.

So far in this WTC cycle, India’s campaign includes four victories, four losses, and one drawn game. With 52 points, the team coached by Gautam Gambhir currently has a PCT of 48.15.

On the other hand, South Africa has climbed to the second spot on the table. They have collected 36 points from their four matches in this cycle, registering three wins. Australia is at the top of the table and has solidified its position with a 100% record, having won all 4 matches in this cycle. They first demolished the West Indies by 3-0 in their home series. After that, they won the 1st match of the Ashes. Being unbeatable, they have a 100% PCT and top the table with 48 points. 

The WTC 2023-25 winners, South Africa, have won 3 out of their 4 matches and have a 75% PCT. First, they played a 2-match test series against Pakistan, which ended 1-1, and then achieved a historic 2-0 clean sweep against India. They have lost only 1 match to Pakistan.

The 3rd-placed team, Sri Lanka, played only 2 matches and won 1. Sri Lanka is playing a 2-match Test series against Pakistan and has 12 points so far. 

Pakistan is in 4th place with 1 win and 1 defeat and has the above position to India. It has played only a series against South Africa and has points 12. 

After a horrible series against South Africa by 2-0, India has now slipped to position 5th in the WTC 2025-27 points table. India managed to win only 4 of 9 matches and received only 52 points. India has played 3 series in this series, drawing the 1st 2-2 against England. In the 2nd series at home, they humbled West Indies by 2-0 but lost to South Africa by 0-2. 

England is in 6th place with only 2 wins in 6 matches. England won both their matches against India. Out of 3, England lost 2 games to India and 1 to Australia. To keep their hope of qualifying in the top 2, they need to win the remaining matches of the Ashes. 

Bangladesh and the West Indies are in 7th and 8th position, respectively. Both teams have won a single match so far. The West Indies are in crisis after losing all their matches to Australia and India. First, Australia defeated them 3-0, and then India was whitewashed 2-0.
