The mini-auction for IPL 2026 got concluded on December 16. The 10 teams came to the auction with different needs and budgets. KKR and CSK had the highest purse among the 10 teams, including INR 64.30 crore and INR 43.40 crore, respectively. KKR used their budget to pick two of the most expensive players in the auction. The two-time champions spent INR 25.20 crore for Cameron Green and INR 18 crore for Matheesha Pathirana.

CSK spent INR 14.20 crore each on Kartik Sharma and Prashant Veer, thus making them the most expensive uncapped players in the history of IPL auctions. Liam Livingstone was another player who finished with a big bid. He was picked by SRH for INR 13 crore.

The 10 teams spent INR 215.45 crore on 77 players. The upcoming edition of the IPL will take place during March 26 and May 31.

1. Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings came to the auction with the second-highest purse behind Kolkata Knight Riders. As expected, they first raised their paddle for Cameron Green and made a total of 29 bids for him. Ravi Bishnoi was another player in whom CSK were really interested. However, they failed to pick both players.

CSK bought Kartik Sharma and Prashant Veer, two uncapped Indian players for a price of INR 14.20 crore each. They were the most expensive players for CSK in this auction and also, these two became the most expensive uncapped players in the history of the auction. Matt Henry, Akeal Hosein, Matthew Short, and Zakary Foulkes were the four overseas players that CSK bought. The five-time champions bought a total of nine players in this auction using their purse of INR 43.40 crore.

They made a total of 35 bids for Matheesha Pathirana, but lost the bidding war against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Indian uncapped all-rounder Auqib Nabi Dar became their most expensive player at the auction and the Capitals spent almost 39% of their purse on him. They defeated KKR in signing Sri Lankan batter, Pathum Nissanka for a price of INR 4 crore. Apart from Nissanka and Auqib, DC signed all the remaining six players for their base price, including the pace duo of Lungi Ngidi and Kyle Jamieson.

The Titans made their first bid of the day for Venkatesh Iyer and showed interest in signing Liam Livingstone, Ben Dwarshuis, and Jack Edwards. Edwards and Livingtone were picked by the Sunrisers Hyderabad, while Dwarshuis was bought by the Punjab Kings.

GT spent most of their purse to sign Jason Holder for a price of INR 7 crore. Tom Banton and Luke Wood were the other two overseas players bought by the Shubman Gill-led side. GT also signed Ashok Sharma, an uncapped Indian pacer for INR 90 lakh, after fighting a fourway battle against KKR, CSK, and RR.

KKR made bids for 19 players in the auction and managed to sign 12 off them. Among these 12 were Cameron Green and Matheesha Pathirana, the most expensive players in this auction.

KKR failed to sign the likes of Venkatesh Iyer, Pathum Nissanka, Liam Livingstone, and Kartik Sharma. Apart from Green and Pathirana, KKR signed the Kiwi trio of Rachin Ravindra, Finn Allen, and Tim Seifert for their base price. Mustafizur Rahman was the next most expensive player after Green and Pathirana. KKR spent INR 9.20 crore for Mustafizur. They signed uncapped players like Tejasvi Dahiya, Daksh Kamra, Sarthak Ranjan, Prashant Solanki, and Kartik Tyagi.

For Pathirana, LSG made a total of 41 bids.

They were also highly interested in signing both Kartik Sharma and Prashant Veer. LSG signed uncapped players like Mukul Choudhary, Akshat Raghuwanshi, and Naman Tiwari after fighting some tough bidding battles. The Sanjeev Goenka-owned team spent INR 8.60 crore to sign Josh Inglis, who will play just four matches in the upcoming edition.
