Mumbai Indians Women (MI-W) will face the Delhi Capitals Women (DC-W) in the third match of the Women’s Premier League 2026 on Saturday, January 10, at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. 

It will be the second game of the season for MI-W. They took on the Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women in the season opener and scored 154 runs for the loss of six wickets. RCB-W chased down the target of 155 runs on the last delivery of the innings and won the match by three wickets.

DC-W will play their first game of the season today. Jemimah Rodrigues has been appointed the captain of the team. Meg Lanning captained the side in the first three seasons and qualified for the final each time. DC will hope for a different result this time.

In the first match, RCB-W won the toss and elected to bowl. MI-W made 34 runs in the powerplay and lost the wicket of Amelia Kerr. They lost three more wickets for 67 runs. Sajeevan Sajana and Nicola Carey added 82 runs for the fifth wicket. MI-W finished with 154 runs for the loss of six wickets. Carey made 40 runs off 29 deliveries, while Sajana scored 45 runs off 25 deliveries.

Smriti Mandhana and Grace Harris added 40 runs for the first wicket. Mandhana got dismissed after scoring 18 runs off 13 deliveries. Harris made 25 runs off 12 deliveries before getting out in the fifth over. RCB lost three more wickets with 65 runs on the board. Arundhati Reddy and Nadine de Klerk had a partnership of 52 runs off 51 deliveries for the sixth wicket. The match went down the wire and RCB required 18 runs to win. de Klerk hit a six off the third delivery and then a four and a six to finish the match for RCB.

Before going into the WPL 2026 auction, DC retained a total of five players. In the auction, they bought the Proteas duo of Laura Wolvaardt for INR 1.10 crore and Lizelle Lee for INR 30 lakh.  Chinelle Henry and Shree Charani cost DC INR 1.30 crore each and were the most expensive players for the franchise in the auction.
