His first came while playing against KXIP in 2008. Whereas, Laxmipati Balaji was the first bowler to clinch a hat trick in the IPL

However, Yuvraj Singh ranked second with two hat-tricks to his name. Other notable bowlers, including Rohit Sharma and Rashid Khan, also have a record of most hat tricks.

2. Amit Mishra – 2008

On May 15, 2008, at Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, Amit Mishra, playing for Delhi Daredevils, secured a hat-trick against Deccan Chargers and secured bowling figures 5/17.

3. Makhaya Ntini – 2008

Makhaya Ntini achieved his hat trick on May 10, 2008, playing for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium

He dismissed Sourav Ganguly with the last ball of the 5th over and then took the wickets of Debabrata Das and David Hussey with the first two balls of the 17th over.

4. Yuvraj Singh – 2009

Yuvraj Singh’s two hat-tricks had a major impact on KXIP in 2009. He claimed his first IPL hat-trick by dismissing Robin Uthappa and Jacques Kallis on consecutive deliveries, then removing Mark Boucher with the first ball of his next over.

5. Rohit Sharma – 2009

On May 6, 2009, at Centurion’s SuperSport Park, Rohit Sharma, played for Deccan Chargers and achieved a hat-trick against Mumbai Indians, recording figures of 4/6. 

In the final two deliveries of his first over, he dismissed Abhishek Nayar and Harbhajan Singh. On the first ball of his next over, he completed his hat-trick by removing JP Duminy, thanks to a brilliant catch by Adam Gilchrist.

6. Yuvraj Singh – 2009

During a 2009 match against Deccan Chargers, Yuvraj Singh dismissed Herschelle Gibbs, Andrew Symonds, and Venugopal Rao in succession, dealing a major blow to DC’s middle order.

7. Praveen Kumar – 2010

Praveen Kumar took a hat-trick in the 2010 IPL against Rajasthan Royals and became the only bowler to achieve this feat that season. He clean-bowled Damien Martyn, caught Sumit Narwal at fine leg, and dismissed Paras Dogra by bowling him out.

9. Ajit Chandila – 2012

Ajit Chandila, an uncapped player, achieved a hat-trick for Rajasthan Royals, dismissing Jesse Ryder, Sourav Ganguly, and Robin Uthappa of Pune Warriors all in his very first over.

10. Sunil Narine – 2013

Sunil Narine, known for his deceptive bowling style, claimed the first hat-trick of the 2013 IPL by dismissing David Hussey, Azhar Mahmood, and Gurkeerat Singh in his second over. He used two off-spin deliveries for the first two wickets and a straighter one for the third, completing his hat-trick.

11. Amit Mishra – 2013

Mishra secured his third hat-trick against Pune Warriors in the 19th over, dismissing Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rahul Sharma, and Ashok Dinda. His crucial spell helped Sunrisers Hyderabad defend one of the lowest totals in IPL history.

12. Pravin Tambe – 2014

15. Samuel Badree – 2017

In the 10th edition of the IPL, West Indian bowler Samuel Badree took RCB’s first-ever hat-trick, dismissing Parthiv Patel, Mitchell McClenaghan, and Rohit Sharma. Despite his brilliance, RCB lost the match.

16. Andrew Tye – 2017

For the first time in IPL history, two hat-tricks were recorded on the same day. Samuel Badree claimed the first, while Andrew Tye secured his in the second match against Pune Supergiants. Making his IPL debut, Tye dismissed Ankit Sharma, Manoj Tiwary, and Shardul Thakur.

On April 30, 2025, at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, played for Punjab Kings against Chennai Super Kings, achieving a hat trick by dismissing Deepak Hooda, Anshul Kamboj, and Noor Ahmed. He also took the wicket of MS. Dhoni in that same over taking 4 wickets in total in just an over.
