On August 21, the Indian Parliament passed the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025. The bill divided the online gaming sector into three segments: Esports, Online Social Games, and Online Money Games. It put a complete ban on online money games, while Esports have been recognised as a legitimate competitive sport in India.
The bill meant fantasy sports applications like Dream11, MPL, Zupee, etc., had to discontinue paid contests on their application. On Thursday, Opinion Trading platform, Probo, announced that they have decided to discontinue its real-money gaming (RMG) operations.
Dream11, however, still has a few matches on the platform. As of August 22, users can create teams for the Men’s Hundred matches on the application. Dream11 has mentioned that all the balances that the players had deposited in their Dream11 wallets would be returned by August 29. Also, the discount bonus and discount points available on the application are non-withdrawable and will be nullified by August 23.
How To Join Free Contests On Dream11?
Dream11 is currently hosting only the matches of the Men’s Hundred on the application. All the matches have just a single contest, with a total of 2 crore spots. Dream11 is offering an iPhone 16 to users who rank from 1 to 20 in this free-to-play contest.
The process to join these contests is still the same, and here’s how you can do that:
1. Open the Dream11 application on your phone.
2. Select the match that is available on the application. As of now, only the Men’s Hundred matches are available on the application.
3. Select the free-to-play contest that is available under a match.
4. Click on Join to create your fantasy team.
5. Create your fantasy team with the same process that you used to do.
6. You need to select at least one wicketkeeper, batter, all-rounder, and bowler. Choose players according to your understanding and research.
7. Once you have selected 11 players in your fantasy team, click on Next.
8. Select the captain and vice-captain in your fantasy team and save your team. A captain gives you twice the points, while a vice-captain gives you 1.5x points.
9. Click on Join Contest to join the contest available on your application.
10. Once you have joined the contest, you can see the leaderboard containing the names of other players who have joined the same contest with their team.
As of now, you can join a contest with a maximum of six teams. You can repeat the same process to create more teams and maximise your chances of winning an iPhone 16.
Make sure to update your fantasy teams after the toss is done and the playing 11 is announced. It will ensure that you don’t miss out on any player in your fantasy team. If you select a player who is not a part of the playing 11, your chances of winning an iPhone 16 will be almost zero.
