The second season of the Delhi Premier League is likely to start in August. The auction for the tournament took place in Delhi on Sunday, July 6. It was announced that two new teams have been introduced in the league, making it an eight-team contest. Each of the original six franchises was allowed to retain one player from any of the four categories. The two new teams got to pick one player post the original teams were done with their retentions.

The two new teams, New Delhi Tigers and Outer Delhi Warriors, picked Himmat Singh and Priyansh Arya in the draft, respectively. The other six teams made the following retentions:
- Purani Dilli 6 – Rishabh Pant
- North Delhi Strikers – Harshit Rana
- South Delhi Superstarz – Ayush Badoni
- East Delhi Riders – Anuj Rawat
- West Delhi Lions – Ayush Doseja
- Central Delhi Kings – Jonty Sidhu

5. Mayank Rawat (26 lakh)

Mayank won the Player of the Match award in the final of the last season for his all-round performance. He scored an unbeaten 78 runs off 39 deliveries and took one wicket. The East Delhi Riders decided to release captain Himmat Singh from last season’s squad and retained wicketkeeper-batter Anuj Rawat. As a result, Mayank went to the auction pool in Category A. The Riders used their Right to Match card for Mayank and spent INR 26 lakh on him.

4. Prince Yadav (33 lakh)

Prince Yadav made his IPL debut this season and took three wickets in six games. He played for the Purani Dilli 6 franchise last season and took 13 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 24.23. New Delhi Tigers, one of the two new franchises, picked Prince for INR 33 lakh.
3. Nitish Rana (34 lakh)

Nitish Rana switched to Uttar Pradesh from Delhi before the 2023-24 domestic season. He played in the first two seasons of the Uttar Pradesh Premier League in the last two seasons. This year, the former Delhi captain is likely to make a comeback to Delhi in the domestic season. West Delhi Lions shelled out INR 34 lakh for Rana, and he will make his DPL debut this season.
2. Digvesh Rathi (38 lakh)

Rathi had a great outing in the IPL this year with the Lucknow Super Giants and took 14 wickets in 13 games at an average of 30.64. Rathi played for the South Delhi Superstarz last season and finished as the leading wicket-taker for the team with 14 wickets to his name. The Superstarz spent INR 38 lakh for Rathi to have him back in the squad.
1. Simarjeet Singh (39 lakh)

Simarjeet Singh made his IPL debut in 2022 with Chennai Super Kings and played 10 matches for the franchise. In the IPL 2025 Auction, Sunrisers Hyderabad spent INR 1.5 crore to have him in the squad. He played four matches for the franchise this season and took two wickets. He played for the East Delhi Riders last season and was the joint-highest wicket-taker last season. The Riders spent INR 39 lakh and picked Simarjeet in the squad once again.
