The International Cricket Council (ICC) has rejected several demands from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). These demands sought to end the standoff over the India-Pakistan match in the 2026 T20 World Cup.
The game is set for February 15 in Colombo. However, the Pakistani government previously instructed its team to skip the match.
The Dispute And Meeting
Officials from the ICC, PCB, and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) met for four hours in Lahore. The trouble started when the ICC moved Bangladesh’s matches to Scotland. Bangladesh could not travel to India due to safety issues. Pakistan then stopped its team from playing India to show support for Bangladesh.

Key Demands And Rejections
The PCB asked for four main things to fix the situation:
- Money for Bangladesh: Pakistan requested that the ICC pay a “participation fee” to the BCB. They also wanted Bangladesh to host future ICC events. The ICC said it has “nothing to offer” as direct compensation. It will only give Bangladesh its regular share of earnings.
- Higher Revenue Share: The PCB seeks a larger share of the ICC’s total earnings.
- India-Pakistan Series: Pakistan seeks to resume regular matches against India. The ICC says it cannot decide this on its own without the Indian cricket board.
- Match Conduct: The PCB wants strict rules for player handshakes after the game.
What Happens Next?
The ICC warned Pakistan that skipping the match would have serious consequences. A boycott could result in a $250 million loss. The final decision now rests with the Pakistan government.
