Pace wars between the youth vs experience will be on full display during the England vs Test series with both sides featuring some great speedsters in the squad.

Team India has a big task in hand as they look to level the 5-match Test series after a disappointing loss in the first match. The second Test ended with one of the biggest win for India against England and their pacers proved that they are better than England’s fast bowling unit.

With the series on the line, India’s young pace attack has stepped up in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, who was rested to manage workload. England, meanwhile, brought back Chris Woakes to bolster their bowling line-up. Now all eyes will on the third test match in Lord’s London.

England Pacers Weigh Heavy Than India’s Newcomers

Both teams have made a big reshuffle in their pace bowling line-up for the 2nd Test. England went with Chris Woakes and Josh Tongue, while India handed a debut to Akash Deep, who joined Mohammed Siraj in the pace unit.

Both sides are in transition. England have moved past Anderson and Broad, while India are managing without Shami and Bumrah for this match.

England fielded Chris Woakes and Josh Tongue. India selected Siraj and debutant Akash Deep; Arshdeep Singh did not make the final XI.

Chris Woakes is a highly experienced player. Since making his debut in 2013, Woakes has played 58 Test matches for the Three Lions. He is currently one of the most experienced bowlers playing in the series from both the sides.

Josh Tongue, in just his fifth Test, brings raw pace and familiarity with local conditions. Gus Atkinson was ruled out due to a hamstring injury and did not play in the second Test.

As for the Indian team, Jasprit Bumrah is the most experienced bowler in the line-up. But in his likely absence, Mohammed Siraj is the next-best bowler. The right-arm pacer has played 37 Test matches for India.

Akash Deep made an immediate impact with early wickets. Arshdeep Singh was part of the squad but did not play.

Akash Deep has played only 7 matches and taken 15 wickets. Meanwhile, Arshdeep Singh is yet to make his debut for Team India in Test cricket.

Comparing the two bowling units, there is no doubt that the hosts, England, have the advantage of having the knowledge of the English conditions, whereas other than Siraj, Akash Deep, and Arshdeep lack experience for India.

England vs India 3rd Test – Lord’s London

India leveled the 2025 Test series 1-1 by securing a dominant 336-run victory in the second Test, proving to critics that their bowling attack is not solely dependent on Jasprit Bumrah. With standout performances from Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj, and Ravindra Jadeja, India showcased their depth in bowling. Now, all eyes are on the upcoming third Test at Lord’s, London, where a thrilling clash is expected between India’s pace trio—Akash Deep, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj—and England’s fast bowling unit. The battle promises to be nothing short of spectacular.
