India has named KL Rahul as the stand-in captain for the ODI series against South Africa. Rahul is the primary wicketkeeper-batter for the Indian side and is an experienced player. Bumrah and Siraj Rested, Jaiswal As 2nd Opener

The selectors have added Tilak Varma, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ruturaj Gaikwad to the squad. These players were not part of the ODI squad against Australia. However, their primary pace battery, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj, have opted to rest. In the absence of Shubman Gill, Yashashwi Jaiswal is most likely to open the innings with former skipper Rohit Sharma.

Nitish Reddy has found his place in the squad, as Hardik Pandya remains unavailable for the national duties. India will go into the series with only three main fast bowlers: Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, and Prasidh Krishna, as Jasprit and Siraj are not included in the squad.
