Ravindra Jadeja has been named the deputy to Shubman Gill for this series. Dhruv Jurel and Narayan Jagadeesan are the two wicketkeepers in the side. Devdutt Padikkal and Axar Patel have been picked in the side as well. Nitish Kumar Reddy, who sustained a knee injury during the England tour and has retained his place in the squad.

Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh, Anshul Kamboj, Shardul Thakur, and Harshit Rana were also a part of the Indian squad against England and have not been named in the squad against the West Indies.

This indicates a shift in selection strategy for the West Indies Tour of India.

End Of The Road For Karun Nair?

Karun Nair was picked in the squad against England and featured in four Test matches. He managed 205 runs and a single half-century on the tour. He made a comeback to the side after a gap of eight years. However, it looks like Nair’s chances of playing for the Indian team once again is almost over.

The chief selector of the Indian team, Ajit Agarkar, answered the question on Nair while announcing the squad. He mentioned that the selection panel had expected a little more from Nair.

“Frankly, we expected a little bit more. He’s played four Tests, but we’ve spoken about just one innings. It is the way it is. We feel we needed a little bit more at this point. We wish we could give everyone 15 or 20 Tests, but it doesn’t work that way,” Agarkar said.
