Shubman Gill Forced To Retire Hurt With Suspected Neck Sprain
In the 25th over of the second day, Rahul became the 18th Indian batter to score 4000 runs in Test matches. Simon Harmer took Sundar’s wicket in the 35th over, and he made 29 runs off 82 deliveries. Shubman Gill came to bat after Sundar’s dismissal.

Harmer kept bowling from around the wicket to the Indian captain. Gill blocked the first ball he faced and then tried a slog sweep on the next one. He hit it well for a boundary, but immediately looked uncomfortable. He held the back of his neck and seemed unable to move his head properly, so the physio came out to check on him. After a brief assessment, Gill walked off the field retired hurt, and Rishabh Pant came in to bat in his place.
Rahul was the next to depart and made 39 runs off 119 deliveries. Pant scored 27 runs off 24 deliveries before getting dismissed in the 44th over. At lunch, India made 138 runs for the loss of four wickets. Post-lunch, India lost the wicket of Dhruv Jurel.
