The Indian team has announced their squad for the Asia Cup 2025. Suryakumar Yadav will lead the Indian team, while Shubman Gill has been appointed the vice-captain of the side. Gill last played a T20I game for India in July last year. The squad also includes Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav. They both last played a T20I game in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024.

Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma are the two wicketkeepers in the squad. Gill’s inclusion means Samson might have to sit out, and if that happens, Jitesh will keep wickets for the team. Shivam Dube, who was also a part of the squad that won the T20 World Cup last year, has also found a position in the squad.

Apart from Bumrah and Kuldeep, the bowling attack contains the likes of Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, and Varun Chakravarthy.

Varma has made 413 runs in nine outings for India since the T20 World Cup 2024 at an average of 82.60 and has hit two centuries.

Middle Order: Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya

Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya might be there in the middle order. Suryakumar finished as the second-highest run-scorer in the IPL and breached the 700-run mark for the first time in his IPL career. Since the T20 World Cup 2024, Suryakumar has made 258 runs in 14 innings at a strike rate of 161.25.

Hardik captained the Mumbai Indians franchise in the IPL and delivered a decent performance with both bat and ball. Pandya made 224 runs in 12 innings at a strike rate of 163.50 and took 14 wickets at an average of 24.42. 

Lower Middle Order: Axar Patel and Jitesh Sharma (wk)

Axar Patel and Jitesh Sharma might be there in the lower middle order. Axar can play as a floater, while Jitesh’s role would be to finish the games for India. Axar didn’t have great outings with the ball in the IPL, but he was in the best of form with the bat. He scored more than 250 runs for the first time in his IPL career. A total of 263 runs came from his bat at a strike rate of 157.48.

Jitesh played a crucial role for RCB in the IPL and helped them lift the trophy for the first time. He made 261 runs in 11 innings at a strike rate of 176.35. One of his best performances came in a must-win game against LSG, where he made an unbeaten 85 runs off just 33 deliveries.

Bowlers: Varun Chakravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Kuldeep Yadav

The bowling unit might comprise Varun Chakravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Kuldeep Yadav. Varun has been the leading wicket-taker for India since the T20 World Cup last year. Arshdeep has been the third-highest wicket-taker for India since the T20 World Cup and has taken 20 wickets in 11 games at an average of 15.15. He was one of the five bowlers who took more than 20 wickets in IPL 2025. Kuldeep has not played a T20I game since the T20 World Cup. In IPL 2025, he took 15 wickets in 14 games at an average of 24.06.
