Vidarbha Won The Toss and Elected To Bat

Akshay Wadkar, the captain of Vidarbha, won the toss and elected to bat on the first day of the Irani Cup. Atharva Taide and Aman Mokhade opened the innings for Vidarbha. Mokhade has played seven first-class matches for Vidarbha and has made 237 runs. Taide played eight games for Vidarbha last season.

The duo added 40 runs for the first wicket before Mokhade was dismissed for 19 runs off 27 deliveries. Dhruv Shorey had a partnership of 40 runs for the second wicket with Taide before he was dismissed for 18 runs off 41 deliveries. Danish Malewar came to the crease after Shorey’s dismissal. He was the third-highest run-scorer for Vidarbha last season, but was dismissed for a duck here.

Yash Rathod joined Taide in the middle and provided stability to the innings. At the time of Tea on day 1, Vidarbha had posted a total of 188 runs for the loss of three wickets. Both batters had scored their respective half-century. Manav Suthar has been the pick of the bowlers and picked two of the three wickets that fell before Tea.
