After the football workshops are done, the organizers are planning to accommodate Meesi to play a cricket match against Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni. If everything goes as per the plans, Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma will also join this event.

Lionel Messi to play “GOAT Cup” in India

This event would be called the GOAT Cup, and the event organisers have asked the Mumbai Cricket Association to organise this cricket match at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. India lifted the 2011 ODI World Cup trophy at this venue.

“Messi will be at Wankhede Stadium on December 14. He is likely to play a cricket match, too, with former and current cricketers. The organisers will come up with a complete schedule once everything is finalised,” an MCA source was quoted as saying in a report by the Indian Express.

This will be Messi’s first visit to India in 14 years. Messi, along with the Argentina team, came to India in 2011 to play a friendly match of football against Venezuela at the famous Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata.

In a notable sports exchange, Team India met Manchester United during their India tour, helping to promote football in the country.

Messi will also visit Delhi and Kolkata during this tour. There were reports that the Argentina team will travel to India for a friendly game of football in October this year. Kerala’s Sports Minister V Abdurahiman had confirmed this news, as the state government had reached an agreement with the Argentina Football Association (AFA) to host two matches involving the Argentina team. However, the plan has been put on hold as of now.
