Maharani Trophy 2025 is a women’s T20 cricket tournament organized by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). It will be the first edition of the tournament. The auction for the tournament took place on July 30 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
A total of five teams will feature in the tournament this year. The KSCA has been organizing a T20 tournament for men since 2022 called Maharaja T20 Trophy. Five of the six franchises from the Maharaja T20 Trophy have picked teams in the Maharani Trophy 2025.
The five teams are: Bengaluru Blasters Women, Hubli Tigers Women, Mangaluru Dragons Women, Mysore Warriors Women, and Shivamogga Lioness Women.
Niki Prasad, the captain of the Women’s Under-19 team that won the Women’s Under-19 World Cup this year, became the most expensive player at the Maharani Trophy 2025 auction. She was picked by the Bengaluru Blasters for INR 3.70 lakh. Shubha Satheesh was picked by Mysore Warriors for INR 3.10 lakh, while Shivamogga Lioness picked Mithila Vinod for INR 3 lakh. These three were the most expensive picks at the auction.
The tournament will start on Monday, August 4, and will conclude on Sunday, August 10. Each team will face the other four teams once in the league stage. The top four teams will qualify for the semi-finals. A total of 13 matches would be played in the tournament. The first 12 matches will be played at the KSCA Cricket Ground in Alur, while the final will be played at the iconic M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
