Mitchell Starc is all set to return to the Big Bash League after a gap of 11 years. He has made himself available to play in the tournament after the completion of the Ashes. The upcoming season of the BBL will start from December 14 and will run till January 25.

Starc has recently retired from T20Is, and hence, there is a realistic chance of him playing for the Sixers for this season. Like the last two seasons, Starc has been signed by the Sixers franchise as a supplementary player. Starc might be available during the second half of the tournament.
Each BBL franchise is allocated two supplementary spots, which they can use to sign Cricket Australia contracted players with limited availability, without taking up one of the primary spots in their 18-player squads.
“I can’t wait to pull on the Sixers’ fresh magenta playing shirt in BBL|15,” Starc said in a statement. “Over the past decade I’ve stayed close to the club and, all things going to plan, am excited to get back on the field this summer. The Sixers are close to my heart, and I have great memories of our BBL|01 and Champions League success. My goal is to help bring another trophy home to our passionate fans,” Starc said.
Mitchell Starc’s BBL Record
Starc last played in the BBL during the 2014-15 season. He has played a total of 10 matches in the league and has picked up 20 wickets at an average of 14.85. He was the leading wicket-taker for the team during the first season of the league and took 13 wickets in six games. Since then, he has not played more than two games in any season.

The Sixers participated in the Champions League 2012 and won the tournament after defeating the Lions in the final. Starc finished as the leading wicket-taker in the tournament and won the Player of the Tournament award.
“Mitch’s strike power with both the new and old ball is unmatched, and we hope he will play a vital role in our push towards the finals,” Haynes said. “Even when not playing in recent years, Mitch has shown himself to be a great ambassador for the club and we look forward to that leadership playing a major role on and off field in BBL|15,” Sixers’ general manager Rachael Haynes said.
