Sachin Tendulkar Calls for Global Unity

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice his concerns and stand with the victims. “Shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic attacks on innocent people in Pahalgam. The affected families must be going through an unimaginable ordeal – India and the world stand united with them at this dark hour, as we mourn the loss of lives and pray for justice,” Tendulkar wrote.

The Master Blaster’s message emphasized the need for global solidarity against terrorism and offered support to those affected by this senseless violence.

Current Players Speak Out Against Violence

Indian opener Shubman Gill shared his thoughts on the platform, writing, “Heartbreaking to hear about the attack in Pahalgam. My prayers are with the victims and their families. Violence like this has no place in our country.”

KL Rahul also expressed his grief, posting, “Heartbreaking to hear about the terrorist attack in Kashmir. My thoughts are with the families of the victims. Praying for peace and strength.”

Former Cricketers Demand Action

National team coach Gautam Gambhir, known for his strong stance on national security issues, posted a forceful message: “Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible for this will pay. India will strike. #Pahalgam”

Former wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel, now assistant coach of Lucknow Super Giants, shared his shock and anger: “Shocked and angry to hear what happened in Kashmir today. While those responsible will be punished, and I’m sure they will, right now there’s a numb disbelief at the terrible acts and the manner in which it all happened. His brother Yusuf Pathan added: “Deeply shocked and saddened by the horrific terror attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir. My heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. Praying for the swift recovery of the injured. Such acts of violence have no place in our society. May peace prevail.”

Calls for Symbolic Gestures in IPL

Shreevats Goswami made a significant request to the cricketing community, asking players to wear black armbands during IPL matches. “Requesting all Indian players in the IPL to wear a black armband this week at least. In memory of the innocent lives lost in Kashmir. Play the game. But let the world watching know. Cricket reaches millions across borders — this small gesture can spread awareness and show solidarity. It’s the least we can do. Thank you,” Goswami wrote on X.

The BCCI responded by announcing that players and officials would observe a one-minute silence before the Mumbai Indians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad match. The board also confirmed there would be no fireworks or cheerleader performances, and both teams would wear black armbands as a mark of respect.

Other Cricket Personalities Express Grief

Anil Kumble added his voice to the chorus of condemnation: “Heartbreaking to hear about the tragic attack in Pahalgam. Innocent lives lost to senseless violence. Praying for strength and peace for the affected families. Let’s stand together against hate.”

RP Singh concluded with a message of unity: “Deeply saddened by the Pahalgam terror attack. My thoughts are with the families of the victims. Condemning this senseless act of violence. May we find strength in unity & support during these difficult times.”
