Player of the Match: Marco Jansen

Marco Jansen earned Player of the Match honors for his outstanding bowling performance of 4 for 40. He took wickets at crucial moments to break New Zealand partnerships. Jansen dismissed both openers and then returned to remove Chapman when he was threatening. His variations including slower balls and knuckle balls completely deceived the batters.

This was a dominant victory for South Africa as they maintained their perfect record in the tournament. The 7-wicket win with 17 balls remaining showed their superiority in all departments. Aiden Markram also deserves huge credit for his explosive batting that took the game away from New Zealand in the powerplay itself.

The defeat is a setback for New Zealand who failed to match South Africa’s intensity. They will need to bounce back quickly in their next match. For South Africa, this win confirms their place at the top of Group D and gives them excellent momentum heading into the Super Eight stage. They have now won all five matches against New Zealand in T20 World Cups.
