Sanju Samson might leave the Rajasthan Royals for the Delhi Capitals. According to a report by The Times of India, the two franchises are almost done with the deal. The Royals will get Tristan Stubbs in return for Samson. The Royals had retained Samson before the IPL 2025 mega auction for INR 18 crore. Stubbs was among the four players that the Capitals had retained, and his salary was INR 10 crore.

It will be one of the biggest trade deals in the history of the Indian Premier League. It was reported that Samson had made up his mind to leave the Royals franchise. He had asked the franchise to look for a trade deal. If this deal with the Capitals doesn’t get underway, Samson might be there in the auction pool for the upcoming edition of the league.
While the auction date is yet to be confirmed, all 10 teams need to finalise the names of the players to be retained before November 15. The TOI report also mentioned that the Royals wanted an uncapped Indian player alongside Stubbs. However, the Capitals declined this request.
Sanju Samson’s Record With Delhi Capitals
Samson made his IPL debut with the Royals in 2013 and played till 2015. When the Royals were banned from the IPL for two years, Samson went into the auction pool in 2016. The Capitals (fka Delhi Daredevils) picked Samson for INR 4.2 crore.

Samson was a part of the Capitals for the next two seasons. He featured in 28 matches for the team, scoring 677 runs at an average of 27.08 and a strike rate of 127.25. Samson scored his first IPL century in 2017 while being a part of the Capitals.
The Royals have discussed the trade of Samson with multiple franchises. According to TOI, the franchise had approached the Chennai Super Kings to trade Samson with Ravindra Jadeja. However, this deal couldn’t go ahead because CSK didn’t want to release Jadeja.
