The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 is India’s premier domestic Twenty20 (T20) cricket tournament, organized annually by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The 2025 edition will mark the 18th season of this prestigious tournament, taking place from November 26 to December 18. 38 teams representing Indian states, union territories, and pan-India entities like Railways and Services will participate in this tournament. The teams are grouped into four Elite groups and a Plate group.

A total of 32 teams in the Elite group, divided into four groups: A, B, C, and D. The top 2 teams of each group will advance to the Super League group.

How Does The Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy 2025 Points Table Work?
The Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy 2025 points table is based on the following system:
- In the group stage, each team will receive 4 points for each win.
- If a match ends in a tie or no result, both playing teams will receive 2 points without changing the NRR.
- There will be no point in losing.
Notably, this rule will also apply to the Super League group.
Format Of Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy 2025
Since 38 teams will play in the Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy 2025, each team will follow a round-robin format within its group. Meaning, teams will face their group rivals once in the group stage. The top 2 teams of each group will advance to a Super League stage, where eight teams will be divided into 2 groups to play round-robin matches again.
Again, the top 2 teams from each Super League Group will qualify for the semi-finals, where the winners will play the grand finale of this prestigious tournament.
In the Plate group, teams will follow a round-robin format, and the top team of this group will advance to the Elite group for the following year.
