The mega auction for the Women’s Premier League 2026 will take place on Thursday, November 27, in New Delhi. The auction will start at 3:30 PM IST. You can catch all the live action on JioHotstar and Star Sports Network. A total of 276 players are available in the auction pool. This contains 194 Indian players and 82 overseas players. The pool includes 83 overseas, 155 uncapped, and 4 Associate-nation players. The five franchises will enter the auction to fill in 73 slots.

Of those 73 slots, 50 were to be for Indian players and 23 for overseas players. Each franchise can assemble a squad of up to 18 players. Franchises submitted retentions ahead of the mega auction. It is the first-ever mega auction in the league’s history, and the franchises have been allowed to use RTM cards in the auction. The number of RTM cards a team can exercise depends on how many players they retained.

Marquee Set & Auction Overview

The WPL 2026 auction will start with a star-studded Marquee set of eight players, led by Deepti Sharma, Alyssa Healy, and Laura Wolvaardt. The group also includes Sophie Devine, Sophie Ecclestone, Amelia Kerr, Meg Lanning, and India’s Renuka Singh.

Renuka has a base price of ₹40 lakh, Wolvaardt is at ₹30 lakh, and the rest are listed at the top bracket of ₹50 lakh.

Withdrawals / injuries & late changes

Jess Jonassen (Australia) withdrew from the auction due to an injury. That was communicated to franchises pre-auction. She has played 24 WPL matches in three seasons for Delhi Capitals. Jonassen has scored 295 runs at a strike rate of 138.50 and has taken 33 wickets at an economy rate of 7.74.

WPL 2026 Auction Round 1

Marquee Set:

Alyssa Healy (base price – 50 lakh) – The Australian captain went unsold in the first round. She missed the last edition of the league due to an injury and featured in 17 matches for the UP Warriorz.

Sophie Devine (base price – 50 lakh) – A bidding war between Gujarat Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The Delhi Capitals entered the bidding process on the INR 1 crore mark. DC exited INR 2 crore, and GG picked Devine for INR 2 crore.

Deepti Sharma (base price: 50 lakh) – DC opened the bidding for Deepti and picked her at 50 lakh. UP Warriorz used their RTM card for Deepti and matched the bidding price. DC made a counteroffer of INR 3.2 lakh to UPW, and UPW accepted the offer. Deepti will return to the UP Warriorz for the upcoming edition. She became the joint-second-most-expensive player in WPL auction history. 

Amelia Kerr (base price: 50 lakh) – UP Warriorz and Mumbai Indians started the proceedings. MI made a bid of INR 3 crore and picked Kerr.

Renuka Singh (base price: 40 lakh) – Gujarat Giants started the bidding for Renuka, and UP Warriorz joined the Giants on the INR 45 lakh mark. The Giants picked up Renuka for INR 60 lakh.

Sophie Ecclestone (base price: 50 lakh) – Royal Challengers Bengaluru made their first bid of the evening for Ecclestone. Delhi Capitals joined the proceedings and picked up Ecclestone for INR 85 lakh. UP Warriorz used their second RTM card for Ecclestone. DC stuck to their bidding price, which the Warriorz matched and picked up Ecclestone for INR 85 lakh.

Meg Lanning (base price: 50 lakh) – Delhi Capitals and UP Warriorz engaged in a bidding war. UP Warriorz picked up Lanning for a price of INR 1.90 crore.

Laura Wolvaardt (base price: 30 lakh) – Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals made the bids for the Proteas skipper. Delhi Capitals picked Wolvaardt for a price of INR 1.1 crore.
