The 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) will be the eleventh season of Pakistan’s top T20 cricket league, run by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). This season is special because the PSL is expanding from six to eight teams, with two new franchises added through an auction. The tournament will be played in April and May instead of its usual February–March window, which may clash with the IPL.

Matches will still follow the home-and-away system across different cities in Pakistan. With this expansion, the PSL hopes to grow its popularity, increase competition, and strengthen its position as one of the leading T20 leagues in the world.

2 New Teams For PSL 2026

The league phase runs from April to mid-May, with playoffs starting soon after and culminating in a grand final in Lahore. The PCB is expected to officially announce the full schedule in January 2026, after confirmation of the 2 new teams.

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is expanding from six to eight teams for the 2026 season, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed. The existing six franchises continuing are:

  1. Islamabad United
  2. Karachi Kings
  3. Lahore Qalandars
  4. Multan Sultans
  5. Peshawar Zalmi
  6. Quetta Gladiators

The PSL is expanding for the first time since 2018, growing from six teams to eight teams. In 2018, Multan Sultans were added as the league’s 6th team. This decision was officially approved by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and is being called an essential milestone for cricket in Pakistan.

Faisalabad and Gilgit Is Expected To Be New PSL Teams

The two new teams will be selected through a franchise auction scheduled for January 6, 2026. This auction will take place only a few months before the start of the next season. By adding more franchises, the PSL aims to give new regions a chance to join the league. It will also help increase fan involvement nationwide.

Recent updates indicate that Faisalabad and Gilgit are now front-runners to secure new PSL franchises, ahead of other contenders in the selection process. This development comes after the PCB faced unresolved issues with the Multan Sultans, leading the board to withhold the renewal offer letter from the 2021 champions.

Prize Money For PSL 2026

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi shared the update. He said the champion of PSL 2026 will receive a prize of USD 500,000, roughly INR 4.48 crore.

The team finishing in second place will receive USD 300,000 (INR 2.69 crore), and an additional USD 200,000 (INR 1.79 crore) has been set aside for the franchise that makes the greatest effort to develop cricket.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wants to use these rewards to encourage teams to play better and help grow cricket in Pakistan. Also, the auction for two new teams will be held on January 6, 2026, which is a big step for PSL as it grows from six to eight teams.
