The Super Smash is New Zealand’s top domestic T20 cricket league, played every summer with six regional teams competing for the title. The tournament always delivers exciting matches, young talent, and strong performances from experienced players across New Zealand’s major venues.

The 2025–26 season ran from late December to the end of January and once again gave fans thrilling cricket action. The biggest highlight of this season was the 2026 final, where Northern Districts defeated Canterbury Kings to lift the trophy and become the Super Smash 2025–26 winners.

Northern Districts have now secured 5 Super Smash titles, cementing their status as the most dominant team of the early 2020s. Their most recent victory occurred on January 31, 2026, when they defeated the Canterbury Kings by 5 wickets in the grand final at Hagley Oval.

Their championship wins in 2013-14, 2017-18, 2021-22, 2022-23, and 2025-26 highlight their exceptional all-round depth in both batting and bowling.

In the 2025-26 season, the team was led by standout performances from Katene Clarke, who finished as the tournament’s leading run-scorer with 431 runs, and Scott Kuggeleijn, who topped the wicket-taking charts with 17 wickets.

Wellington Firebirds: 4 Titles
