KKR v DC: IPL MATCH 19 PREVIEW

The Kolkata Knight Riders take on the Delhi Capitals in match no 19 at the Brabourne Stadium.

KKR are coming off from 2 back to back wins against PBKS and MI. Pat Cummins blew away the 5 time champions by recording the joint fastest 50 in the IPL and taking down 35 runs in one over of Daniel Sams. Bowling has been KKR's biggest strength so far. Umesh Yadav has taken 6 wickets in the Powerplay and has a dot % of 58. The spin duo of Varun and Narine haven't taken a lot of wkts but they have managed to tighten the screws in the middle over. Narine has an eco of 4.8 whereas Varune has an eco of 6.4 in the 4 games. Andre Russell was back at his best against PBKS. The batting remains a big concern for the men in purple. Skipper Shreyas Iyer along with Rahane & Rana have not made any major contributions, Venkatesh Iyer had 3 poor outings before his half century against MI. Overall, its a weak batting unit and bowling may not always bail them out.

After a memorable win against MI in the opening encounter DC have lost 2 back to back games. They will be strenghthened by the addition of Warner and Nortje but they both had an outing to forget in the game against Lucknow. Nortje was DC's most impactful bowler in 2020 and 2021 with 34 wkts at an economy of 7.7 and dot % of 44. DC haven't got their middle order combination right so far. The promotion of Powell in the last game was baffling given Lucknow had Bishnoi's overs left. Pant SR since 2020 is 121. Mitchell Marsh's inclusion at 3 will give them a lot of stability. He has been in a stellar form in the past one year and was supposed to bat at 3 for DC. In the past 1 year, Marsh scored 627 runs for Australia and was the team’s leading batter in West Indies and Bangladesh. He starred in the T20 World Cup final by scoring 77 and won the MoM award for his performance. He played 8 games in this year’s Big Bash League and scored 357 runs at a SR of 142 which included 1 century and 2 half centuries.

Form Update
(IPL 2021 & 2022)

Key Players, Stats and Fantasy Picks

Captain:

Prithvi Shaw: What makes Shaw different from the current crop of openers? Since Shaw’s IPL debut in 2018, he has scored 989 runs in the Powerplay at a whopping SR of 147.8. No one has scored more runs than him at a better SR. The next best on this list is Jos Butler with 713 runs at an SR of 146.

Rishabh Pant: Delhi's skipper has scored 2582 runs at a SR of 147 since his debut season in 2016. Only AB De Villiers has scored more runs than him in this period at a better SR. He thrashed all records when he recorded the most runs by an Indian middle order player with 684 runs in the 2018 edition. He has the most runs in middle overs 1770 with 74 sixes

David Warner: He is back where it all started. The man of the tournament of 2021 t20 wc would be itching to make an impact after a disastrous outing last season.

Pat Cummins: He blasted his way to a 15 ball 56 in his 1st game of the season against MI. 4 overs of pace and and someone with his striking abilities at 7/8 adds immense value to any team.

Vice Captain:

Sunil Narine: 0/15, 1/12 & 1/23, 0/26 are his nos in the 1st 4 games . He has conceded only 2 sixes so far and has a dot ball perecntage of around 45.

Shreyas Iyer: Since Nov 2019, Iyer has scored 705 runs for India at a SR of 150. He has performed in almost every series and was the man of the series against SL 2 months ago. He has failed to make any impact so far in this year's IPL and today is a good chance he might step up against his old team.

Andre Russell: The 2 time MVP of the IPL was quiet with the bat in the past 2 seasons but he displayed a scintillating show of power hitting against PBKS and yet again proved why he is one of the most dangerous players in t20 cricket. Russell strikes at 229 at the death since 2018. A fit Russell adds immense value to the KKR side as he bowls his quota of 4 overs as well

Budget picks
(Fantasy rating - 8/8.5 points)
